Welcome to The FORGE
A new men’s group will be meeting at Reed City United Methodist Church beginning January 18, 2020, on Saturday mornings at 9 a.m. Any man 18 years of age or older is welcome to participate.
Men’s conversations most often pertain to sports, hunting, fishing, cars, and other hobbies. However, we hope to be able to move beyond those topics to help each other deal with the things that weigh heavy on our hearts and minds. In a safe and trusting Christian fellowship, with the Lord’s grace and guidance, men can help each other with the struggles we all face from time to time.
We are all called to make disciples for Jesus Christ to transform the world, but to do so we must first be transformed. It was this concept that helped with the naming of this new activity; The Forge.
A forge is a type of hearth used to “transform” metal; to heat it so it can be shaped to do the job it is being prepared to do, to temper it to become more resilient, and to make it more flexible so as to withstand the forces trying to break it. So it will be with our men’s group; help us be better formed to God’s will, help us be more resilient to the pressures of life, and withstand the forces trying to break us away from our Lord.
To accomplish these goals; we will listen to each other, pray with each other, cry with each other, give advice when asked, and perhaps offer a loving kick in the pants when necessary so each of us may be transformed to better live a full and rewarding life in Christ.
If you or someone you know could benefit from such a time with other men, please be at our first meeting on Saturday, January 18, 2020, at 9 a.m. at the Reed City United Methodist Church. Subsequent meetings will be determined at our first get together.
Any questions may be directed to Chris Coristine or Timothy Locker.
